Context
Creating new products on Shopify is often a tedious, manual process—especially for merchants who receive product details via supplier invoices. DataPump was built to eliminate that friction.

What It Does
DataPump is a Shopify app that lets merchants upload supplier PDF invoices and automatically turn them into ready-to-sell product listings in their store. No more copy-pasting specs, prices, SKUs, or images by hand.
The system reads invoice PDFs, extracts the relevant data using a combination of AI and rule-based logic, and displays it in a clean admin dashboard for quick approval or edits. Products can be published to the Shopify store with a single click.
Features
- PDF invoice parsing with AI-powered text recognition
- Dynamic admin interface with ag-Grid for fast review/edit
- Product data mapping (title, description, SKU, price, images)
- One-click publishing to Shopify product catalog
Tech Stack
- React (frontend)
- ag-Grid (interactive data table)
- Node.js + Express (backend)
- TypeScript (full stack)
- Shopify App Bridge & API
Outcome
DataPump is a focused, highly practical tool that saves time and reduces error for Shopify merchants onboarding new inventory. It's a strong example of applied AI used not for novelty, but for actual workflow automation.
Another smart solo build by Kryštof Mitka, showing how deep understanding of both developer tools and merchant pain points can lead to elegant automation products.
